Preventing your car from breaking down in heavy traffic
The following are the guidelines to check your car from break down:
• A key routine activity to consider in avoiding car breakdown is performing the common services such as oil change and engine tune up.
• Ensure the brake fluid monthly, for enough amount and setting. If you continue to use a deficient amount or unclean brake fluid for long period of time, it can cause the brake to lose the braking efficiency.
• Examine and clean the car battery terminals every two months.
• Check the air filter and replace the air filter element if it is blocked with filth and dirt.
• Check all the belts monthly for laxity, damage or cracks. If the belt is in the bad condition, replace the belt immediately to avoid the breakage.
• If the car consists of automatic transmission, check the transmission fluids every 12000 miles.
• Replace the timing belts every 50,000 miles, whether the belt is damaged or not. Because if the timing belt fails, this can lead to engine damage, which will cause a costly repair.
• Check your car for damaged tires; replace the tire if it reaches the tire wear indicator limit. Check the tire inflation pressure weekly to guarantee that it has enough amount of air.
• Every two months check the power steering fluid for sufficient amount. If the power steering is insufficient, it means that the power navigation system has a leak and it is need to be inspected.
